Latest update:
Emergency surgery successful. He’s still under the influence of sedation.
5 days or more is something that Jimmy had not done before away from me. He had to be admitted at the vet for 5 days or more (plus under observation in case of any complications) for bladder dialysis and with a micro tube hanging out of his penis for the next few days? Argh! I’m not going to like this sight. I won’t like the figures on the bills at a later stage too for the hospitalization, food, vitamins, injections and God knows what else they would add in it. Moreover, he has to be put under a strict pH balance c/d prescription diet, which is 5 times the cost of his present food, for the rest of his life. Gosh!
Poor Jimmy! I am purring lots for him.

This post breaks my heart. My baby boy also has FLUTD. Thankfully, the emergency vet hospital caught it right away and told me exactly what to do to keep my baby alive and healthy 🙂 He has been eating prescription c/d (prescribed by his regular vet) for nearly 2 years now, and he has done amazingly well on it – no reoccurrances whatsoever 🙂 We have three cats in the house, so they all have to eat it (and the vet okayed that, too). I know it's expensive food, but well worth it to keep our babies alive and healthy. We buy the biggest bags they have – it's a tad cheaper than buying the smaller ones.
Water is definitely important for cats with FLUTD, too. My baby eats wet food as well (c/d makes a wet food in two flavors) to get extra water in him. My vet suggested adding a little water to his wet food daily to get even more water into him.
I'm so glad that Jimmy is being cared for. Just follow your vet's instructions for feeding wet/dry prescription food and he should pull through. We are definitely purring and praying for him! Please keep us updated.
We are sending purrs and prayers for Jimmy, hope he gets better soon!! In fact, we are thinking of all of you at this time.
